Howdy Friend,

My name is Harrison ‘Whale’ Goodale. I am a multi-instrumentalist residing in Fort Collins, CO. After earning a degree in music education from the University of Connecticut, I did the responsible thing and joined a band. As a member of folk-rock outfit, Parsonsfield, I toured the U.S and Canada for seven and a half years. During these formative years, the band signed to Signature Sounds and Paradigm, releasing two full length records, two E.P.s as well as various compilations and singles. Parsonsfield became known for delivering dynamic live shows.

In 2014 the band was hired to write music for a play, The Heart of Robin Hood, premiering in the US at Boston’s American Repertory Theater, which went on to have a six month run in Winnipeg and Toronto at the Royal Alexandria Theatre. After recording ‘Blooming Through the Black’ in 2016 with Producer Sam Kassirer (Josh Ritter, Lake Street Dive), the band was awarded a grant from the FreshGrass Festival at MassMoCA to compose an original score for the 90 min silent documentary, Nanook of the North. That same year our song, ‘Weeds or Wildflowers’, was synced for Episode 612 of AMC’s The Walking Dead.

In 2018 I made the difficult decision to leave the band to pursue my own artistic and professional endeavors. Parsonsfield is still going strong- check out their newest record here.

In 2015 I co-founded Sustain Music & Nature, a nonprofit working to develop relationships between the music industry and environmental organizations. My work with Sustain has been featured in Times Square, Colorado NPR, Southwest Airlines, National Audubon Society, MTV, US Fish & Wildlife Service and American Songwriter.

Currently I work as a freelance bassist, in both studio and live settings. I perform with the Boulder Symphony and am developing my own project, The Zoologists.

In my free time, I try to keep up with my wife climbing 14er’s, goofing around with our redbone coonhound Bean, reading Sci-Fi, and throwing down on game nights with friends.

I am passionate about community building and continuously strive to be innovative and inclusive in my projects. Since moving to Fort Collins in 2018, I have worked to support the local music scene.

In 2020 at the beginning of the pandemic lock-down, I was a driving force for some of the only recurring public music offerings in the state. Through Sustain’s Sagebrush Sessions, 10 bands were funded for safe public performances. I was also a part of an extraordinary small team that brought The Drive & Jive to Fort Collins, a five month summer series at a drive-in theater that safely produced more live music than anywhere in the country.
